Many parents are afraid of their children's absence of will to make their own decisions. Hence, they always depend on their parents to make a judgment. However, in my opinion, they have always had freedom of choice regarding whom to consult in making their best decisions. In the beginning, young people willingly reach out to their parents when they make a big decision. Since their parents have had various social experiences and responsibilities in raising them, they want to refer to their parents’ guidance. In my case, I consulted with my parents to decide which university I would go to when I was a high school student. My dream was to become a professional analyst. To achieve it, I wanted to study business management and marketing at university. Since my mother majored in them when she was young, I asked my mother for advice. She provided me with various information about famous professors in Japan and let me know her old classmates and colleagues who work as professional marketers to learn what I could study at university. Her assistance eventually led me to attend Keio University, which is famous for marketing, business phycology, and economics. Thus, my episode shows that children could reach their parents’ assistance to attain their goals. Moreover, teenagers could ask professionals for information to make their best decision. They are so informative that they could assist us a lot. For instance, my career counselor helped me enter my current company. When I was a senior at university, I struggled to find which company fitted me. I was not confident in my skills, so I could not prepare a good resume for a job interview. Then, I consulted a career counselor about attaining a job according to my will and preparing for a job interview. She assisted me in finding suitable companies where I could use my knowledge and skills and give some speech techniques. Her advice was so helpful that I could encounter my current profession as a data analyst at a medical company and present myself confidently in a job interview. Now, I can enjoy working there. Indeed, young people could use professional advice to realize their will. In conclusion, many young people could reach guidance from their parents and professionals to make their best judgments. Without it, they are more likely to make bad decisions. If you are considering how to raise their children, I recommend you assist them if they consult about their big decisions.
