Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In today's world, it is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work slowly and make sure that everything is correct. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Most things are probably just a click away from us today, given the great advances in technology. So it has made us quite impatient and we expect a very short turnaround time for everything as consumers which puts a lot of pressure on the suppliers in the lifecycle. Those who fail to meet these expectations lose a chunk of their market share. But I still don't believe that it is fair to compromise on the quality of work by just blindly increasing the speed. In some cases, making mistakes at job in an attempt to just do stuff faster can ruin one's reputation, cause loss of money, or even loss of lives. In my opinion, a person is respected and judged at their job by the quality of his production rather than the quantity. It either builds his reputation in an organization or tears it apart. As I am a software engineer, personally, I have seen many similar examples. If someone completes a code very fast but there are a chunk of errors in it, my managers and teammates look down upon that person. They lose trust in him, which in turn creates a bad image of that person. There are certain jobs where if one isn't cautious while working, it can cause a huge financial loss. As an example, cashiers and other people working in banks, if they serve a lot of customers at a great speed but do not count properly while issuing cash, I can't even imagine what a mess it will be. Customers will not happy with the speed of the service but will instead frown upon the bank for losing their money. Think about the construction and manufacturing jobs. If they were to start making mistakes in order to complete work faster, the common man's life will be in danger. For instance, while making roads if workers make mistakes to get the tasks through faster, there will be lot of accidents and damage to human lives. I certainly feel that one should always take their own time to complete the task. They should calmly verify whether everything is correct or not as that will be beneficial for everyone in the longer run.
