Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers were more appreciated and valued by society in the past than they are nowadays. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

I think this can be possible. In the past all students did not have access to the Internet, it was more difficult to get information and they had to trust on professor's knowledge. As the primary source of information, teachers used to be more respected because it was thought that they knew everything. At the present, almost every student has access to a computer, and in consequence, to the Internet, so that is easier for them to access any kind of information from different areas. More importantly, now is not even necessary to have a professor for learning about a subject, because massive open courses have emerged in the time, and you can find all the necessary resources for acquiring the information you need. In my experience, I had a professor who was very respected because of the way he taught us to program, later, when we all of his students discovered online courses, we realized that actually everything he used in his classes were part of a simple book which we could have access since then, so, everyone told that he was a scammer.
