The lecturer, however, asserts that traditional resources have never been completely accurate either, in fact every resource tends to have some mistakes. She adds that the advantage of communal encylopedias is that it give us a chance to edit out any inaccurate information. Furthermore, the author posits that many times the information present online is correct but it gives vandals a chance to manipulate the information. The reading mentions that a reader seeking information about a certain topic will not be able to differentiate between right and wrong. In contrast, the lecturer says that the online platforms allows writers to make all crucial information in read-only format so that it cannot be manipulated. She also says that auditors are employed to monitor changes made and correct them if required. Finally, the author puts forth that online encyclopedias direct their attention solely to popular topics. The reading states that this can create confusion regarding what is important and what is not. This opinion is challenged by the lecturer. She says that it gives people a platform to talk abpout their interests, with a great variety of topics involved. Lastly, she talks about the advantage of having a lot more space.
