Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more important for governments to spend money to improve Internet access than to improve public transportation. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Some people argue the importance of governments spending money to improve internet access rather than spending that money to imrpve public transportation. Personally, I agree with these people. I think that in this modern age, internet is very important for the people as well as the government and it needs to recieve the financial support it deserves. I feel this way for two main reasons that I'll go deeper into in this essay. First of all, I think that government should focus their spending on improving the internet because of the increasing importance the internet has in our daily lives nowadays. This importance is emerging from the fact that the internet now plays a role in everything in our lives from transportation to work. For example, the recent outbreak of Covid-19 has forced many companies to close their headquarters and offices. Thanks to the internet, many people were able to keep working remotely and keep their jobs. In contrast, had the government spent more on public transportation, people would still not be able to commute through them due to the circumstances in that time. This shows how the internet can offer more ways of coping with such circumstances and offer solutions to many different problems. Second of all, I think that improving the internet access is very important for the government to consider due to the fact that the internet now is the cornerstone of many technological innovations in the recent years. These innovations in turn, improve every aspect of our lives, maybe even transportation itself. This is best demonstrated through the recent surge of autonomous driving cars, where it can more environment friendly as well as being more effecient in terms of power consumption. This can't be achieved if it wasn't for the internet. On the other hand, had the government invested more in public transportation they would improve the current situation of means of transportation but they wouldn't be able to improve the whole system itself without the need for internet. In conclusion, I think that the government should focus their efforts and spending on improving the internet access rather than improving the public transportation section because of the increasing importance of the internet both in our daily lives as well as its importance in the transportation section as well.
