There has been a long-term debate on the topic of whether we can learn something about a country from a mild made there or not. In my opinion, I firmly believe that a film reveals a lot about the country's historical and cultural values and I feel this way for two main reasons, which I will discuss in the following paragraphs. Firstly, we get to know a lot about the country's past histories and cultural practices from a film. We often do not like to read boring history books and in such cases, historical films and period dramas come into the role to enrich us with our historical facts. For instance, period dramas like 'Padmava't explain the 'Zahar Brata' and its consequences to us. It beautifully illustrates the war between the Rajput king and its rivals. Moreover, the film reveals the rich culture that India offered at that time with all its fashion sense, jewellery and intricate design of the mahals. Secondly, a country's achievements are often shown through films. For example, 'Chak de India' tells us the story of India winning the national level hockey championship. It was indeed a proud moment for all Indians, but many kids of this century who were not born at that time were deprived of the flavour of that joy, that our parents experienced. The film gave us that experience by taking us back to that proud moment. Also, the recent sports film 'Eighty-three' took us back to the time of Kapil Dev and we, kids of this century for the first time experienced the emotion related to the 1983 World Cup that India won owing to the outstanding performance of the team. In conclusion, I strongly believe that not only a film tells a lot about that country's heritage and achievements but also exposes the hidden talents of that country's actors, producers and musicians, which can bring them worldwide fame.
