do you agree or disagree that the extended family is less important now than it was in past

There is no shortage of opinions that family is the backbone of our life without it, our identity is nothing. In my opinion, I believe people nowadays give less importance to the extended family as they prefer to live on their own terms. I firmly believe this for several reasons which I will explore in the following paragraphs. To begin with, earlier people prefer to stay together as they believe people who stay together value each other emotions and have a strong bond. However, nowadays people stay in a nuclear families where they chose to live in a modern style and take their own decision. I have to admit on this matter has been profoundly influenced by my own experience, my father and I used to live together but once I got 18, I started living in a different house because I wanted to live alone without any interference, earn my own money and take own decision. As a result, I started losing a strong bond with my father and we rarely talk. Secondly, people become financially independent, and thus the reason they feel no need for their family, especially their parents. They don’t even realize the importance of family is moreover than money. Drawing from my experience, as soon as I started earning my own money, I used to start getting busy ignoring family calls, skipping family events, and giving more importance to work. As a result, I hardly felt connected with my family. In conclusion, I feel that people forget to live with an extended family within time. This is because these two reasons eventually lead people to far away from a traditional family and cultural values.
