Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is more enjoyable to have a job where you work only three days a week for long hours than to have a job where you work five days a week for shorter hours. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
The article and the lecture are about the pros and cons of dinosaurs being endotherm animals. The author states that many modern reptiles are not endotherm, but there is some evidence that dinosaurs--old reptiles-- were endotherm animals. In response, the professor casts doubt on the points made in the article stating that many scientists still believe that dinosaurs were not endotherm. He holds this idea for some reasons as explained herein.
First, the author states that fossils in polar regions show that dinosaurs could live--maintain their body temperature--in extremely cool areas. However, the professor explains that finding some fossils of dinosaurs in polar regions does not necessarily mean that they lived in those regions all the yearlong. They could migrate or even hibernate like modern reptiles.
The author's second point is that the positioning of these creatures' legs is a sign of them being endotherm animals. He believes this way only because the physiology of endotherms allows sustained physical activity, such as running. The professor disagrees with this idea. In response, he states that there could be another explanation for the position of the legs in dinosaurs' bodies; in fact, it could be for their large body and their heavy weight.
Finally, the author believes that dinosaurs had rapid growth because of having Haversian canals. In response, the professor states that the presence of growth rings in dinosaurs shows that this is not true. In fact, this rings show that they grew less during cooler periods.
In conclusion, the writer and the lecturer hold conflicting views regarding dinosaurs being endotherm animals.
