Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to improve the quality of education in a country is to increase teachers’ salaries. Use reasons and examples to support your answer.
Undeniably, it is critically important that investing in education occurs in appropriate ways. This is because the development of societies depends on the quality of education. One of the most significant ways to improve the quality of education in a country is to raise teachers’ salaries which has dazzled authorities to pay more attention. While many people believe the most important way to improve the quality of education in a country is to increase teachers’ salaries, I do not think it could be the most effective way. The reasons, including but not limited to the following, substantiate my viewpoint.
First, there is no direct relationship between high income and high quality. The government can not be sure that they will teach better if they raise teachers’ revenue. In fact, there is not any guarantee for that. There are many methods that lead to the competitive condition and could be more effective. In this way, teachers try to be more active and make the students progress. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. When I was in primary school, my school administrators held a contest in order to develop our education quality. They announced that they not only give a valuable present to the winner but also increase the winner student’s teacher income. Therefore, all of the teachers were stimulated to work harder and caused to increase our education quality.
The next reason in line is that there are many ways which could be more effective than increasing teachers’ salaries. To put it in other words, the strategies should be supported that guarantee the government investment will not be wasted. For instance, schools could improve their facilities and provide an ideal situation for students to thrive themselves. Being in the high-tech lab not only is very enjoyable for many students but also creates a physical sense of the theoretical courses which they have taught. Under such a circumstance, students’ minds would be receptive to learning more materials and encouraging them to study more and causes to get a better scores in their courses.
Taking the above mentioned into account it can be concluded that, increasing the teachers’ income not only is not a safe way but also there are more wisely ways to improve education quality.
