What historical event in your country has had a major effect on your country? Give reasons and examples to support your response.

There is a proverb that says “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it”.Historical events has a pivotal role for every nation.Those are the ones that decide the fate of our countries and each step could be irreversible.The one historical event that has had a major effect for my country is the war of “Vardanants”.Although there are a lot of events which are prominent too but I strongly believe that this war is the reason for others existence.There are two reasons which I will explore in the following essay. First and foremost, this war is a fight for the freedom of our state. For many years, Persia ruled our country, and the Armenian people stood against them because they wanted to return what was rightfully theirs. Thousands of warriors devoted their lives in the belief that others would be able to live in an independent country. This was not just a battle for men; it was a liberation struggle , including women and children.These people were unified and passed through such hard times for a common goal.They knew that plenty of them were not going to come back but nevertheless they were ready to die. That is why Vardan Commander said these words “ Unknowing death is death, known death is immortality”.We live in an independent country because of these people who gave their life for us. Second reason which compels me to favor this approach is that we did not lose our national identity as a result of this war.We would forget who we were if everyone followed Persia's rules and accepted their religion.It was only a matter of time until we were accustomed to their way of life, and we began to forget our own habits, traditions, language and History. We would be absorbed into them, and Armenia would cease to exist.If they did not win most of us would be born as persian, without knowing about our roots and ancestors.Our literature treasures would be destroyed which were the fact of our occurrence.People nowadays are aware of and celebrate their customs, as well as learning about their past, as a result of mankind refused to allow their history to be stolen and erased. In conclusion, the war of “Vardanants” will be remembered as a historical event that has had a major role to save our country from enemies' troubles.
