Some university professors let their students choose their research topics themselves. Some do not. Which one do you think is better. Why?

Some people think that people who are in the same level as them, such as fellow students or co-workers, are better when they learn something from them than those who are at a higher level than them, such as teachers or supervisors. But I think that you can learn more things from people at a higher level than people at their own level by the following reasons. To begin with, people at a higher level generally have more knowledge than people at your own level. So, you can learn more things and more effectively. For example, you will be able to study subjects and acquire abilities to manage your jobs speedier and more precisely. In fact, I have a lot of experience in which I got better scores when I learned with my good teacher than I studied with my fellows as the results of the examinations that I took. In addition, people at a higher level know how to tell you better than ones at your own level because they have more experience in their life about that. As the way of teaching is very important if you learn something more effectively and precisely, you had better learn from them. When I was taught by a good teacher, I was able to learn a lot of things because I could ask him a lot on the spot. For these reasons, you should learn from those who are at a higher level if you have the situation.
