Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Overall, the widespread use of the internet has a mostly positive effect on life in today’s world.

I agree with the statement that the internet has a primarily positive effect on our lives for two reasons. First, news spread has become significantly faster than in the past with the internet. Second, by guiding us with navigation and simple calculations, the internet has helped us save our brain energy. To begin with, I believe that it is possible to obtain news around the world fast with the improved internet and information sites. Even small news approaches our ears much faster than in the days without the internet. For instance, when an earthquake starts to break, people can realize it faster with notifications before serious damage. However, in the past, people would have had to shout around the streets to give warnings without the internet. On top of that, our brains are able to get comfortable without having to use it for minor things. There is a limited amount of energy for our brains and they can easily get overwhelmed by overuse. When they save their energy for more important things, it will be nicer for the brains. For example, I had to use my brain with flexibility and creative thinking to solve a complicated math problem. I felt tired and my brain really needed to rest, but I had to solve it until that day. Thankfully, the school allowed calculators so I used the internet calculator to do the simple subtractions. By saving my brain’s energy for doing subtractions, I was able to enroll in creative thinking. In conclusion, with the internet, the speed of news travel increased hugely and it enabled us to save brain energy. In this regard, I believe that the internet has provided us with a greater amount of positive effects than negative ones.
