The Question Movies and television strongly influence the way people behave. Do you agree or disagree? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.

Films and Television programs play a big role in the actions that people take. While some claim that people watch entertainment programs only for leisure purposes and films don't have the power of anything more, I take a different approach. Movies and television programs have the strong power to affect our behaviors breaking through the wall of leisure. First, we are often shown movies when we are young, formalizing our identities. Many movies are shown to children for educational purposes. For example, when I was six years old, I was shown the movie, “Beauty And The Beast”. After watching the movie, I was told to be kind to others no matter how brutal others were towards them. Since then, I have always thought of Belle as not only my favorite character in a movie but also as a role model in how she behaves. Therefore, even just one two-hour movie that one watch when in their childhood can have a strong impact on one’s life. Second, films and tv programs show a different world from our own life. There is a limit to what we can see with our own eyes in person. However, movies and television have the power to show footage from every part of the world. For instance, when I was nine years old, my mother showed me a movie called “The Way to School”. It showed how dangerous it was for kids in some regions to walk to school, being exposed to wildlife animals such as lions. This movie showed me the reality of other children who were my age, and all of the obstacles that they had to face just to go to school. Since then, this movie has become an incentive to do my very best to study. This movie taught me the importance of education and the environment around me, an important lesson beyond the boundaries of entertainment. Movies and television have a very strong influence on how we think, act, and project ourselves. Although they are mainly for entertainment, they have the strength to teach their audience about what they should aspire to be and to make them realize what they should value. It is the true beauty of film and television productions to go beyond the screen to leave their legacies in their audience's actions.
