Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture are both about, working schedule. The author states that, it
is a more relevant option for companies to offer a four-day workweek with less pay in order
to benefit the economy. The lecturer casts doubt on the main points made in the reading
,by providing three examples.
First of all, according to the reading this new offering, is more profitable for the company
because workers can have more free time and feel more refreshed, also they can spend more time with their family members .However the
instructor disputes this idea, he says that companies need to spend more money, in
order to cover health insurance, and training for employees.Furthermore ,he thinks
,there will be problems with space and additional computers to hire more employees
and providing this offerings , they can have issues with money, and it can break down the company's economical savings.
Secondly ,the reading states that this idea is acceptable because there can be more
opportunities for employees, adding more job requirements can improve and give access to other people to work. Nevertheless the professor's arguments on this point, he
argues that as he mentioned before getting new employees is costly, therefore the
company will raise her expectations for job because sometimes workers need to
endeavor more hours to get the same result, and doing trial overtime is not one of the
pleasant things to do.
Finally reading claims that a short work week can improve workers life quality, they can rest more and have more free time. On the
another hand lecturer refutes this point, he says that four days' work can decrease
employes ability for the job. Moreover, he feels that it is bad for their careers to work less,
and rest a lot. he believes that working fewer hours will not improve their knowledge and experience to improve their career and get to a new level.
In conclusion ,the reading and the lecture are both about working 4 days a week, and the pros and cons, of this idea. the
three reasons point out in the reading, are effectively challenged by the lecturer.
