Nowadays many high schools and universities require students to work on projects in groups, and all members of the group receive the same grade (mark) on the project. Do you agree or disagree that giving every member of a group the same grade is a good way to evaluate students? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Be sure to use your own words. Do not use memorized examples.

Teachers usually think that working in groups has a lot of advantages for students. They usually think that each student in the group has worked hard to finish the assignment, so they give the same score for all the members of the group. Personally, I think that this method of evaluation is completely wrong. I feel this way for several reasons that I will explain in the following paragraphs. To begin with, when people work in teams, they are more likely to not work properly because they think that other member of the group will do the most part of the work to complete the project before the due date. My personal experience is a compelling illustration of this. When I was a student in high school, teachers usually required me to form a group with other students to do homeworks. I did not enjoy this kind of tasks because most of my classmates were totally irresponsible. As a result, I always had to finish assignments by myself. The members of my team got high scores by doing nothing. Furthermore, teachers should be more strict with the scores that they give to the members of a team. They usually ask students to work in groups to reduce the time that they spend giving personal scores for each one of the students. Teachers save a lot of time by giving the same score for all the members of a team. As a consequence, some students receive scores that are not fair. For instance, when my brother was in elementary school, his teacher always asked him to work in a team to do a task. He was really lazy in that time, so he did his minimum effort to complete his part of the assignment. He got excellent scores but It was not fair for the other members of his group that worked hard to do a great work. In conclusion, I strongly believe that giving the same score for all the members of a team is not fair for people who has done the most part of the task. Moreover, these grades do not reflect the effort of each student.
