Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture are both about dutch painter Rembrandt's paintings and the fact of some of her painting's real identities.Whereas the author of the reading states that the woman who was pictured in the portrait looks similar style-wise.The lecturer casts doubt on the main points made in the reading by providing three reasons.
First of all, according to the reading, there are misunderstandings about this picture, because the woman wears luxury and a costly fur collar ,and not any servant could purchase it.However, the lecturer refutes this argument. She argues that portrait woman is wearing a white linen cap and it's not that rare thing for servants to afford.
Secondly, the reading states that Rembrandt is a professional for her work and completing shadow and light is one of her strong points,in fact in this portrait you can clearly see this miss-match.Nevertheless, the lecturer refutes this argument. She argues that light and shadows do not fit together, and she mentioned that in past there was another layer of paint under the portrait and she strongly believes that this was a great way to make the new layer seem fresher.
Finally, the reading claims that the art piece is painted of different variety of wood attached together.Though there is no art known by Rembrandt who used wood pieces. On the other hand, the lecturer believes that several pieces of wood painting can be in fact Rembrandt's paintings. She believes that different pieces of wood are the same material used in another painting of Rembrandt.
In conclusion, although the reading and the lecture are both about Rembrandths art pieces identification, the three main points made in the reading are effectively challenged by the lecturer.
