Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support
Many people think that the most important thing at any school or university is studying and learning; but is this really the case? Of course, learning is a very important aspect of a college student, but sports and social events also play a very important role in a boarding life.
To begin with, social activities can help students relax and take a break from learning. Social events are also usually held with a group of people. Students can relax and hang out with their friends during this time. Studies show that social activities and hanging out with friends can contribute to releasing stress. Instead of staring at the screen for 3 hours straight and dreading life, by releasing stress, social events can actually help students concentrate moer on studying for their exam and listening and staying active in class. This allows students to perform better at school and also feel good at the same time.
Moving from to social events, sports event can maintain health for students. Students nowadays spend a lot of their time on the internet staring at the screen instead of running around on the field. This may cause eye and even posture porblems. By constantly participating to sporting events, students can take a break from their tiresome homework. Students also usually only move their hands and arms when looking at a digital device, sporting events can help students stay fit. In addition to that, students can actually develop grit through participating in sports events. This is because the students will go through times where they cannot do this and since sport needs a lot of practice, which teaches students how to endure hardship. This skill will be used frequently in the lives.
Lastly, social and sports events can help students develop social skills. Through participating in these events, students can form new bonds of friendship. Shy students may also learn from social events by speaking to strangers and imporving their communication skills. Sports activities, especially team sports can also teach students collaboration skills and many other skills that they will need when facing the real world.
In conclusion, sports and social events are just as important as studying. This is because it allows students to relax, maintain health, and develop important life skills that they will need for the rest of their lives. What are your thoughts on this?
