Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries and should receive equal financial support. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer:
It is important for universities and colleges to prioritize their services most effectively. Indeed, they have a limited budget, and they should try to manage this limited money to maintain their goals. Some people believe that they should spend most of their financial resources on classes and libraries, while others believe that supporting students' sports and social activities is as important as their education. I think the same as the second group, and I will explore two reasons in the following. First, students need to have the opportunity to do sports to maintain their physical and mental health. Most of the students are busy attending classes and doing their projects. Hence, it is difficult for them to manage their time to attend any sports gym off-campus. On the other hand, they encounter noticeable stress and they need a place to play sports and refresh their minds. Let me illustrate it using an example of myself. In my first years of the university, I suffered from severe anxiety. My advisor offered me to join a sports team on campus. After a few months, the result was surprising! Not only was my anxiety relieved considerably, but my marks also improved significantly. Therefore, I think students need to do sports on campus. Second, people need people. Students need to have a place to communicate with each other and even make lifelong relationships. Since most of the days they are busy with their classes from early in the morning till night, they do not have enough time to communicate with each other in other places. Providing some places for their social activities can help them. For example, I remember there was a cafe in the center of our university, that we called it city center, which was commonplace for the beginning of a lot of relationships. I met some of my friends there for the first time, and some of them helped me in my studies as well. Taken together, spending money on sports and social activities is as important as their education.
