Technology has made it easier for people to communicate with each other. Some people prefer to talk over the phone while others prefer to communicate through text messages. Which type of communication do you prefer and why?
Nowadays, technology has made communication considerably easier through text messages and also has increased the pace of interactions. However, there are some factors in classic communication methods which make them preferable to state-of-the-art technologies for some people.
There are several pros and cons for each of them. Text messages have a fairly lower cost, for one. It also gives the option to contact someone indirectly, so it won't be a problem for those with social anxiety. In contrast, texting may be frustrating for beginners, as it takes a lot of time to get comfortable with typing on a small keyboard. Besides, most middle-aged people prefer familiar ways of communicating, rather than the fresh inventions of the past decade. for instance, it's crystal clear that old women are more obsessed with old, rotten antiques, compared to, for example, a luxury, modern vase.
On the other hand, texting is mostly popular in the young generation, especially, generation Z. As far as scientists know, today's youth consider texting a much better means of communication. It is faster, easier, and more private than talking out loud, and to sum it up, it can keep connections with friends or family, more, and more proficient.
In general, I would rather text, thank call, personally. I won't have to be anxious, spend money. it is better.
