Plastic bags are terrible for the environment. They should be banned everywhere.

I agree with the statement that plastic bags are terrible for the environment and they should be banned everywhere. I agree with this statement for two reasons: plastic bags are harmful because of the way they are produced, and because they are harmful to animals and humans after they have been used. Firstly, plastic bags are harmful when they are produced. Plastic is made from crude oil which is pumped out of the ground. Pumping oil out of the ground and transporting it often leads to oil spills which kill animals and damage environments. Oil is not good for human health and the process of turning oil into plastic also creates unhealthy chemicals. So the damage caused to human health and to the environment by producing plastic bags is a good reason to ban them. Secondly, plastic bags are harmful to animals and humans once they are thrown away. Plastic stretches without breaking so it can easily become wrapped around an animal's neck or limbs and kill it. Many plastic bags end up in the ocean and they can harm animals that mistakenly eat them because the animals cannot digest the plastic. Sometimes animals can become trapped inside the bags and suffocate or starve. Humans, especially children, have been suffocated accidentally by plastic bags. Since the bags do not biodegrade easily, they remain a threat to animal and human lives for years once they are thrown away. We can easily live without plastic bags by using reusable cloth bags or backpacks that many of us have already. So plastic bags should be banned everywhere because they are harmful to life and the environment when they are produced and because they kill and injure animals and humans once they have been used and discarded.
