Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and television have more negative effects than positive effects on the way young people behave. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Certainly, movies and television are part of our lives, and we can spend time on them. Whether using this technology might be beneficial or harmful, it depends on each individual's use. In my opinion, I disagree with the idea of thinking that TV and movies have more negative than positive effects on the youth and I will explore the reasons why I feel this way. First of all, while some programs and tapes can corrupt the mindset of children, the advantages are clearly much bigger. My own experience is a compelling example of this. About fifteen years ago, I used to play a video game called "Empire Earth" which was about different and historical events of the world. Because of that, I became curious about the topics related to World War II, so I started to read and look for information related to that. Thereafter, while I was watching television on my room, I found an interesting documental on National Geographic that illustrated and explained in an attractive way all the facts that made World War II to explode. Honestly, I really enjoyed the resources exposed in this program and I got loads of knowledge within. Secondly, choosing the right movie or TV show might lead you to spend time with family or friends, thus, enforcing bonds with them. For example, when I was nineteen years old, it became a tradition in my family to watch a reality show every single saturday in the night. We did this for around a year and those were memorable days that I do really appreciate now. On the other hand, I have gone to the cinema with friends a lot of times so I could be able to socialize and know about them, therefore, favouring my own health. Finally, TV has also the advantage of leading people to enhance skills that are needed in the school or a job. This is because there is plenty of educational programs that teach us how to perfom in different subjects suck as science, math, cooking or languages. I grew up watching Discovery Channel and thereby I learned a lot about astronomy and astrophysics. In conclusion, my stance is that television and movies have more positive effects in young people than harmful. The wide range of educational programs offered is bigger than the garbage also exposed by some companies.
