Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers were more appreciated and valued by society in the past than they are nowadays. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer

No one can deny that teachers play an important role in society. Without them, we wouldn't have had access to knowledge easily. They teach us so many things about life, science, literature as well as various other helpful fields. However, they are not appreciated nowadays as much as they were during the previous decades, and that is due to many reasons. First of all, many parents don't teach their children that they should respect their teachers and treat them politely. For example, in the past, even kindergarten students valued their teachers, looked up to them, and considered them role models. In contrast, students now make fun of teachers, disrespect them, and don't take their advice seriously. Second, with the technological development, people from all around the world started relying on the internet -more precisely, online courses from various resources- to learn new skills and expand their intelligence. For instance, one could learn calculus, philosophy, and natural sciences just from watching the countless youtube videos about these subjects. Hence, teachers are no longer the only source of information. Consequently, the importance of their presence has been slowly degrading throughout the last few years. Last but not least, teachers used to stimulate their students' creativity, and by doing so, they encouraged them to think for themselves and develop a passion for wisdom and learning. But now most teachers push their students to learn things by heart without teaching them about the importance nor the utility of what they are learning. Naturally, students lost both the joy of learning as well as their respect and appreciation for their teachers. In a nutshell, although the things stated above are true, the teachers' mission is a tough one, and they deserve to be appreciated for their efforts in facilitating the process of gaining knowledge and sharing it with others. It is our mission to give them the value they deserve and thank them for their sacrifices.
